Deru Oakwind, Child of Verdancy

Deruvathien Kessathel'Amne, more commonly and endearingly known as Deru Oakwind, daughter of the Forest Mother Aewynn and a human woodsman, was brought to the forests of Peltas as a child to nurture her innate druidic powers. Raised in the secluded Verdant Grove, Deru has never met her father and knows little of the world beyond her woodland home. Under the guidance of Master Druid Falzin Grandri, a revered dwarf who earned his place among the elves, Deru is determined to honor her mother’s legacy and master her druidic abilities. Despite her young age, she shows great promise, driven by the desire to unlock her full potential as the child of a powerful demigod.

Deru shares a close bond with her demigoddess mother, Aewynn, despite her mother’s immense responsibilities in protecting the forests. Their relationship often feels more like that of sisters due to their youthful appearances and the ease with which they get along. Though Deru wishes they could spend more time together, she cherishes the moments they share.

Her journey as a novice is fueled by the support of her peers, particularly her two closest friends, Lyn Dawnbough and Laena Wellspring. The trio’s connection is deep, resembling a sisterhood built on mutual love and loyalty. Together, they are prepared to face any challenges that come their way.

In terms of personality, Deru is cheerful and optimistic, always giving others the benefit of the doubt and encouraging them to shine. While somewhat naïve, she knows when to stand her ground and confront those who threaten her or her loved ones. Her true talents lie in her connection to nature, which is enhanced by her semi-divine heritage. Though she is skilled in forest navigation and athletics, her greatest strength is her ability to call upon nature’s forces, using her druidic powers both to protect her friends and to serve as a formidable opponent to her enemies.
